Stanford Advanced Project Management (SAPM) is a professional development program created and delivered in partnership with IPS Learning and the Stanford Center for Professional Development. After completing the 6 course curriculum, participants earn the Stanford Certified Project Manager certificate, and are awarded the professional credential, Stanford Certified Project Manager (SCPM).
The SAPM program builds upon the fundamental project management methodologies covered by the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) as taught by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Though a PMP certification is not required for admission, equivalent industry experience and training is the baseline acceptance criteria for participation in the SAPM program - or completion of the IPS Project Management Mastery course. The Stanford APM program teaches project management at the advanced level and does not overlap with the PMBOK, but rather provides a complementary curriculum.
The PMBOK addresses planning and controlling tasks to achieve project outputs; SAPM is a higher level offering aimed at program managers and business unit managers who need to align their organization's structure and culture with its strategy, while converting project outputs into real business results.
